antidistablishmentarianism or, Winter in Prague

so I hope everyone is doing good (err... I mean 'well' TJ). I have started medical school in charleston, and am already chopping at a cadaver. it is actually kinda cool to see what nerves go where and which muscles attach which bones at what points. it is also cool to try to feel where different muscles are on a person (but thats an entirely different story...). charleston is a little more fun than columbia. and by a little, i mean alot. sorry for the ppl stuck in columbia (but charleston isnt too far away). i went to a cool place called juanita greenbergs with a friend of mine from middle school i ran into. its kinda like moe's, which they have down here too. i got the absolute best she crab soup from a jewish-owned place at the market. this soup seriously made me feel euphoric. but the studying part of med school is kinda getting to me. its not the same 9-5... or 8-6, 8-11 type job city year was... anyway, i should get back to studying, but hope y'all are doin well.... expect!

ps- has anyone heard word from danielle... i called her the other week and she never called back... very sad....

Greetings from Boston

Wow...so this is what you guys do with your time?? Definitely very entertaining to read after all this time. I forgot about this site and I have been on the columbia yahoo alumni group trying to get them to help us out this year. I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing so well and I definitely miss you all very much. I've been working at City Year all summer with Michelle Regan and loving every second of it. Things are really great and they are trying to find me a position in Headquarters as a Young Heroes director of sorts where I would manage the day-to-day functioning of each site...which is truly amazing. Michelle will be focused on two pilot Young Heroes sites so now everyone but South Africa has YH and two model programs in Boston and Philly which will be huge. I see Jason every day and he seems to be doing very well. Hes being pretty nice lately which is cool. I have met almost everyone in the building and spoken with Alan and Michael personally several times. I'm really getting my name out there and couldn't be more excited! Things are going very well. I'll be going down to Columbia the second week in September to help out with BTA and BTR and to inspire next years corps which I am superexcited about. Have you met the new team? They are all really amazing and inspiring and I fell in love with all of them at Academy...Katie and Peter are leading everyone with Pride and they are just great to be around. Its a whole new year folks...get excited!! They are working into my contract that they will fly me down and house me for every major event Columbia has. Pretty neat right? I'm also working on a Young Heroes yearbook and Michael you haven't gotten back to me once...way to ignore me buddy. So if anyone has some comments they would like to pass on to the kids let me know. We are also working on doing 100 consecutive hours of Service in Columbia which is HUGE...it would be a really big deal and I sent a proposal to Michael Brown. Columbia is about to take off in a major way! We are getting a huge alumni support! Anyway thats the news on my end. Oh before I forget Latoya...i met a guy at Academy who was going to try and get Bruce into Philly. He really liked him and is going to try his best. There is still time! Is Bruce still interested? Congratulations to all of you...sounds like life is treating you well! Good luck with school Latoya and Michael, and congrats on the great jobs! Christine keep making us proud!! She did an awesome skit with her team...in true Christine style! Have a great day folks! ~Patty

Ditto

Yes, Corrie, are you alive?

On a completely different note, I just dry shaved and am intensely regretting it right now. Why do I always do this to myself?!? I'd rather have three-inch long leg hair than this burning feeling I am currently experiencing.

Hey!!! I am at Academy, and so is Katie, Patty, Jason, and Peter!!! It's been fun seeing them all again. I definitely have been thinking about the old crew. Just wanted to say hey.

Unimportant Query...

Christine, Danielle, or Corrie...do any of you know how much money was on those TJ Maxx gift cards that we got for helping with LEER? I rediscovered mine in a pile of old CY stuff. Good times.
